Black Bear Performance offers three different levels of custom tuning service for your 2007-2008 GMC Sierra 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L (Vortec MAX).
15-20hp gains are common with 10-15ft-lbs of torque on 89 octane on the 4.8L and 5.3L. The 6.0L Vortec MAX (VMAX) trucks are able to see a whopping 40+ft-lbs of torque and significantly improved overall driving characteristics.. Combine that with improved shift patterns, towing capabilities, throttle response and even fuel economy in many cases and you'll have what feels like a whole new vehicle!

All 2007+ 5.3Ls owners are strongly encouraged to use a minimum of 89 octane at all times due to compression ratio.
*Due to variability in turbocharger systems, they must be evaluated by our tuner prior to committing to any services. Additional tuning service/hardware may be required.
AutoCal
All tuning with our AutoCal is custom designed specifically for your vehicle, your modifications and your desired tune changes. We start off by having you collect your OEM tune file(s) as well as a scan of the vehicle's operating conditions while driving. Those items are sent in to us for diagnostic review and to build your tune files. Assuming all is acceptable to proceed, we then provide you with your custom files built for your vehicle. Copying and flashing those files takes just a few minutes.

- On-board memory allows the storage of multiple tune files and/or countless hours of logged data
- Multiple vehicle licensing available on a single device! Up to 600 vehicles can simultaneously be tuned by a single AutoCal device with the purchase of additional service from Black Bear Performance. No other handheld offers this flexibility.
- Full 2007+ GM 6 and 8 speed transmission tuning support (2017+ 8 or 10 speed transmissions excluded)
- Window's PC or laptop running Win7 or higher required.
Scan Cable Tune
Our scan cable tune is a step above the standard mail order tune. Black Bear Performance was started in 2006 with the premise that vehicle-specific data will yield a better, more consistent tune and that is still the same today. The tune will provide horsepower and torque increases, improved throttle response and shifting, and overall driveability.
Process:
- Submit a security deposit for the scan cable hardware ($400). This deposit is fully refundable when returned in a timely manner.
- Follow our detailed instructions to collect a log file from the vehicle. (Windows Laptop Required)
- Email file(s) to be reviewed. We will analyze and provide corrective action or an order form to complete the tune purchase.
- Tuned computer or computers will be mailed to you to be installed. Using the scan cable, you'll be able to link the new computer(s) to the vehicle and perform a follow-up log file for review.
- The scan cable and factory computer(s) (if desired) are returned to us for a refund of the deposit (less 3% merchant fees).
Traditional Tune
Our traditional tune is our custom mail-order tune that does not involve data-logging. The tune will be built off of our past experience with similarly equipped vehicles. The tune will provide horsepower and torque increases, improved throttle response and shifting, and overall driveability.
